At Mastertek we’re passionate about performance.

Meet Our Team

We’re dedicated to assisting our clients in the pursuit of continuous organisational improvement.  We believe that high-performing organisations are built not born, cultivated not created.  Our mantra of ‘Better Work Experiences’ drives us to develop programs and initiatives that deliver sustainable competitive advantage for the resilient and high-performance organisations of the future.

Establishing and sustaining a high-performance culture is no mean feat.  The complexity of human behaviour can mean there is more room for error than excellence when considering how to interact and engage your workforce.  Our solutions and approaches are honed through active research and global experience of organisational design, human behaviour and performance and reward programs.

Jamie Anderson  |  Managing Director

Jamie Anderson has led the Mastertek team since 2008 with the aim of enhancing the company’s capability in the design of strategic performance and reward solutions, previously having held the position of Global Remuneration and Benefits Manager at Aristocrat Leisure Limited.  Jamie has over 20 years’ experience in the remuneration and benefits arena, spanning both public and private sectors in Australia and the United Kingdom.  In the private sector, Jamie’s focus has been on the design and implementation of short and long term reward strategies that drive employee performance, engagement and retention in challenging labour environments and has worked with companies such as BHP Billiton, Westpac Banking Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Aristocrat Leisure Limited, Oil Search Limited and Sensis.

Through his public sector engagements Jamie worked with the UK’s Cabinet Office, Lord Chancellor’s Department, Court Service and Maritime and Coastguard Agency and has worked with a range of Local Government organisations in Australia.  Some of the major challenges facing those organisations included addressing equal pay legislation, aligning reward strategies to individual and organisational performance and managing costs in the best interest of taxpayers.

A Brief History

Mastertek was originally formed in 1997 and in December 1999, Graham Childs joined Mastertek as a Partner.  Graham brought to Mastertek a wealth of experience in HR consulting, particularly in the area of HR Strategy development.  At that time Mastertek had as its brand ‘Making Strategy Work’, which encapsulated a focus on clarifying business strategy and translating it into the design, development and implementation of practical HR programs that reinforce and drive business performance.

Under Graham’s leadership, Mastertek soon became recognised as a thought leader in the area of people management strategies.  Our strength lay in our ability to clarify the business strategies of our clients and translate that strategy into workable people management programs, essentially “making strategy work through people”.  In particular, a core competency has been in developing performance and reward strategies, including short and long-term incentive plans that drive business performance.

Mastertek developed people management programs for many leading companies and institutions, in particular, organisations seeking cultural change, revenue growth and profit improvement.  Some of our clients include BHP Billiton, Optus, Sensis, ANZ Bank, NAB, Rabobank, Johnson and Johnson, Mitre 10, Zurich Financial Services, Accor, Shell Australia, ConocoPhillips, Mitsubishi Development, National Transport Committee, Queensland Investment Corporation, Schroders, Woolworths, National Hire, SAS Institute, Bombardier Transportation, Tiwest Joint Venture and Kerr McGee Corporation.

Throughout this time Mastertek has also developed a long-term relationship with the local government industry.  Our relationship goes back to the 1990’s when we led the development of the NSW Local Government Job Evaluation Methodology including its roll-out to a large majority of Councils.   From that time we became recognised as the industry experts in relation to salary system design as well as performance management and people leadership more generally.  By 2016 Mastertek were exceptionally well placed to create a new, contemporary job evaluation solution for today’s modern Councils, which is now delivered to some 25% of the industry via our REMConnect platform.
